This week was not as crazy
as the last one. Though it was still as fast. We are trying to find a new
teaching pool. Several of our investigators are not progressing so we would
like to drop them for someone that actually wants to act on what they are learning.
So that means more tracking. fun especially when it is around 100 degrees
outside.
We did a fun service
project on Saturday and got a free T-shirt. We helped with the rest of the
community to clean out a huge warehouse for a new food bank in El Paso. Both
Coles and I got a lot of sun. Thankfully I tan and do not burn but poor Coles
got pretty red.
One of our
investigators is still progressing. We taught her about the word of
wisdom. She had been trying to quit smoking for three months before we taught
it to her. Now she said it gives her more incentive to quite. She has been
going through some really hard times lately but said she knows it is all for a
purpose. She knows God is the one that can help her through them.
She really wanted to come to church this past Sunday and thought she might be
able to use her moms car but wasn't sure. So she was going to text us if she
needed a ride. We hadn't heard from her Sunday morning so we sent her a text to
see what was up. We didn't hear back. After church we stopped by her house to
see what had happened. Her phone had been disconnected and couldn't use her
moms car but she said she tried to stop by a neighbor of hers who is a member
to see if she could catch a ride with the person that was going. But she wasn't
home when she knocked. Later she saw someone pick her neighbor up for church. I
told her to chase the car down next time because I know they would have given
her a ride. Next Sunday I think we will just have someone stop by her
house just to be on the safe side.
We have been working with a
young man for awhile now. He is a former Satanic and even has 666 tattooed on his
forehead. He met his wife who is a member and turned his life completely
around. His is now reading the Bible and Book of Mormon on a regular basis.
Though he told us many times before he doesn't want to be baptized until he has
read it completely though. We got a text randomly from him last week asking
what the requirements for baptism were. We met with him and went over them and
asked why the sudden change? He had an experience and really wants the gift of
the Holy Ghost and doesn't want to wait much longer for it. So he is getting
baptized on the 19th of May.
