Javier
and Francisco came to church!!! This week was Stake Conference and we invited
them to it on our last lesson. We explained what it was and who was speaking. We
also had a 70 speak and Pres Miller came and spoke. Hna Gomez and I were
helping set up more chairs in the back of the gym because we ran out of room
for everyone to sit. And then all of the sudden she said "they came!"
and then she took off running towards them. I followed her and sure enough it
was them. The Stake reserved the first 3 benches in the chapel for
investigators. We guided them up there. They had a great view of all of
conference:) there was not enough room for us to sit with them so we had to sit
in the back. We tried to catch them after the meeting but we got stuck in the
sea of people. We were able to talk to one of the elders who sat near them and
the Elders said Javier was taking notes throughout the whole meeting. We have
an appointment with them tomorrow. I hope they really liked church and got a
lot out of it.
We have
been seeing Jaqueline a lot lately and getting her ready for her baptism. She
changed the date to March 10th so she can invite more family to her baptism. We
also have her whole baptismal program all ready to go too. She is super excited
for her baptism. Last night we reviewed the importance to have obedience and
showed her pictures of all the prophets using the gospel art book. Jaqueline
and her brother Bryan liked going though all the art book and asking question
about the pictures and the stories behind them.
We had a
good lesson with Alma and Mariana. We taught them of the importance of making
good choices in this life because it affects all of eternity and we also taught
Mariana about eternal families. She said it is something she really wants for
her family. She also confided in us about how she is confused because
everything we teacher is not what she learned in the Catholic Church but she
also doesn't feel full when she goes to the Catholic Church. We told her that
is why we always ask her to pray about the things we teach her so she can know
for herself whether the things we teach her are true. We also invited her to
come to church again, but she is going to Juarez again this weekend.
Remember
the G family, the family we gave the kitten to? Well it was Sister G's birthday
this week and Bro G threw her a surprise party and invited us to stop by to see
her. Hna Gomez and I wanted to get her something special and not expensive, but
we didn’t know what. Then I remembered what Aunt Michelle did for Grandpa and
Grandma for Christmas. The testimony box. I knew the G's would love one and Hna
Gomez was totally on board too! One day we went out on our lunch break to try
and find a box but we didn’t like any of the ones we found but somehow we
wondered over to the cooking section and found some really cool looking jars
and they were perfect! So we gave them a testimony jar with pretty paper rolled
up inside and a message with our testimonies. No surprise, they loved it:)
Thanks for the idea Aunt Michelle!
